AUSTIN (statesman.com) – The Real Estate Council, a group founded in 2000 by Austin’s development and environmental communities, has pledged $400,000 to the Hill Country Conservancy for the protection of scenic and environmentally sensitive land.
“The pledge by the Real Estate Council will be dedicated 100 percent toward the purchase of land,” said David Armbrust, president of the Hill Country Conservancy. “We have not identified the land yet, but it will be seed money for finding some land that should be set aside and buying it.” The group’s goal is to preserve 50,000 acres. So far it has set aside 8,000 acres. |
